Rotary’s Community School Toilet Project Bringing Sanitation to Phulchowki Secondary School
“WASH in Schools” project is to improve the health of the school children of Phulchowki Secondary School, Thaiba, Godawari Municipality. Major components of this project is: (i) Better and user friendly sanitation and hygiene facilities such as construction of toilets, hand washing, and solid waste management; (ii) Build well (iii) Access to safe drinking water.
The project was funded by Rotary Club of Yala, Phulchowki Secondary School,Rotary Club of Jindalee, Rotary District 3292 Nepal Bhutan, Rtn Gautam Shrestha, Rtn Shobha Shrestha, Rtn Om Krishna Shrestha, Rtn Pramod Pradhan, Rtn Surendra Gopal Shrestha, and Rtn Dr Dinesh Shrestha.
Phulchowki Secondary School was established as a community School and located in Thaiba, Godawari Municipality of Lalitpur District. It offers classes from Early Child Development (ECD) to Bachelor’s level, including Ten Plus Two Programs in Science, Humanities, Management (affiliated to National Examination Board), four years’ Bachelor Degree in Business Studies (affiliated to Tribhuvan University) and three years’ full time Diploma in Civil Engineering (affiliated to Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training). Altogether there are 65 teachers and 1300 students of which 780 are female students.
Rotary Club of Yala managed the project with an experienced Rotarian Dr Dinesh Lal Shrestha as the Project Co-ordinator. The project was funded by Rotary Club of Yala, Phulchowki Secondary School and Rotary Club of Jindalee. The Steering Committee monitor and regular supervised the development of the Project.
