Flash Flood Field Visit Nuwakot

**Assessing Needs. Strengthening Resilience.**
A team from **Rotary Club of Yala** recently visited flood-affected areas of **Bidur, Nuwakot**, including **Bhimsen Higher Secondary School** and **Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School**, to assess the impact of the Bhotekoshi flash flood and identify urgent WASH and education needs.
The visit highlighted both the **remarkable coordination of relief efforts** and the continuing challenges faced by displaced families and schools.
🔹 **Bhimsen HSS:** Inadequate toilets and the need for safe drinking-water filtration were identified.
🔹 **Tribhuvan TSS:** After the school premises were submerged by the flood, more than **650 students are currently being accommodated at Bhimsen HSS**, placing significant pressure on existing WASH facilities.
🔹 **Community response:** Government agencies, municipalities, humanitarian organizations and partners are actively supporting shelter, food, water and sanitation needs.
🔹 **Priority needs:** Restoration of damaged water and sanitation infrastructure, continuous water-quality monitoring, emergency WASH facilities, waste and sludge management, and psychosocial support for displaced women and children.
**Rotary Club of Yala is exploring immediate and longer-term WASH interventions, including prefabricated toilets, handwashing facilities, water filtration and permanent sanitation infrastructure.**
From **relief to recovery, and from recovery to resilience — Rotary stands ready to serve.**
